In Luna Yarra we sing from a 500- year old tradition of Italian folk music, with much of the music based on actual life events. The music often is often tender and comic but sometimes confronting, even suggestive, and the texts have their own earthy, poetic beauty. We have named this CD after the Yarra River that runs through our home city.
Stepping Out was recorded live by the ABC Southbank Studios in 1998 & produced by Paul Petran of the ABC Radio National music programme, Music Deli.It contains 20 folk and popular songs from all regions of Italy including translations in English making it a valuable tool for teachers and students of the Italian Culture. The earliest songs date back to the 1800's til the present day.
